Mobilizing Trusted Medical Voices to Protect Vaccine Access

Coalition advocacy and data-backed messaging keep policymakers focused on science over misinformation

As South Carolina experienced one of the nation’s largest measles outbreaks, lawmakers considered legislation that would have expanded vaccine exemptions and weakened longstanding public health protections. The Infectious Disease Prevention Network engaged Sachs Media to help ensure policymakers heard credible medical voices backed by research rather than misinformation.

Working alongside a statewide coalition of physicians, public health organizations, educators, and community leaders, Sachs Media developed and executed an integrated advocacy campaign that combined strategic messaging, original public opinion research, earned media, physician engagement, digital advertising, and a statewide radio campaign to build public awareness and inform legislative decision-making.

The campaign reached communities across all 46 South Carolina counties through coordinated media and advertising efforts. When the legislative session concluded, not a single vaccine-related bill passed, preserving access to vaccines and protecting longstanding public health safeguards.
