Pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) have long plagued the nation’s health care space, driving up costs for Americans by inflating drug prices and eroding patient choice. Aiming to compel transparency, hold PBMs accountable, and promote free market competition,
Sachs Media worked with a coalition led by the National Association of Chain Drug Stores (NACDS) to bring the predatory practices of pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) to light in Florida, Texas, and Ohio. We launched tailored “Put Patients First” campaigns in each state, driving traffic to state-specific landing pages, developing social, digital, and print collateral; leveraging localized survey research; placing thought leadership pieces; and securing critical coalition partnerships. Within five months, the multistate Patients First campaigns generated dozens of positive media outcomes and achieved policy victories in all states.
Florida. Passed the nation’s most significant PBM reform law.
Texas. Stopped legislation that would have allowed PBMs free rein to drive up patients’ costs.
Ohio. Secured a significant increase in Rx drug reimbursement rates.
