Nearly 2 million low-income households in New York are eligible for free or discounted mobile phone services through the Lifeline program, but these families were not receiving access because of shortsighted federal policies designed to restrict access. Sachs Media was engaged by Q Link Wireless to promote legislation that would shift authority for approval of new carriers from the Federal Communications Commission to the New York Public Service Commission in order to facilitate growth in this program. Through our Take Back Access targeted digital campaign, we were able to put supportive content in front of lawmakers repeatedly. Our team partnered with community leaders nationwide to place opinion pieces in top NY newspapers and send statements of support to the Governor to encourage him to sign the legislation once it was passed.
