At a time marked by unrelenting change, information overload, and unchecked narratives, the quest for clarity can feel like an impossible journey through the fog. To help illuminate the way and provide a clear path forward, Sachs Media is pleased to announce the launch of Decyphered, a Substack dedicated to distilling the chaos into meaningful insights rooted in research and depth.
Led by Sachs Media partner and Director of Research Dr. Karen Cyphers, Decyphered aims to be an antidote to the noise, offering a deeper dive into original data analysis on public opinion and public policy to spark engagement and inspire fresh curiosities. The Substack will serve as a central repository for original, timely commentary on public polling, data analysis, policy research, and more.
“I’m excited to share fresh data, experiments, and analysis on issues that matter to people, in real time,” said Cyphers. “Substack’s platform uniquely allows engagement between people and the content they read, and my hope is that the research we share will provide some clarity and also provoke more questions — more issues to dive into.”
Cyphers brings a wealth of experience to this new project. Leading Sachs Media’s Breakthrough Research team, she provides data analysis, survey design, thought leadership, and strategic analysis for corporate, nonprofit, and government clients. She delights in experimental design, political behavior, and public policy analysis, and writes on these topics for various peer-reviewed and mainstream publications. Cyphers earned her Ph.D. in political science from Florida State University, where she currently teaches the state’s mandated civics curriculum. She has directed policy for two Florida gubernatorial campaigns, one governor, and the Florida Medical Association, and served as legislative staff for both the Florida Senate and House.
“Karen has a rare gift for looking at data and seeing the stories behind the numbers, and this Substack project provides a platform for her to share her unique insights and engage with the people reading them,” said Michelle Ubben, Sachs Media’s President and CEO. “There’s always so much going on in the depths of survey results, and Decyphered will be an outstanding way for broader audiences to explore it in detail.”
Some of the work Cyphers and her team produces is seen four times a week via graphics in Last Call, distributed by FloridaPolitics.com. Through the Substack, Cyphers will expand the reach of these graphics and the research behind them, also using the public platform to share other interesting things her team comes across. It will serve as an interactive home where the various research-related projects Sachs Media conducts can live and be shared.
