Sachs Media Wins AAPC Gold Pollie Award

Share:

Sachs Media Group was honored with a coveted Pollie Award from the American Association of Political Consultants (AAPC), the industry’s highest honor bestowed upon political consultants at the national and international level, during the 2016 Annual Pollie Awards & Conference on April 14 in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Sachs Media Group proudly took home a Gold Pollie Award for its outstanding work on the 2015 Healthy Pools campaign for the Water Quality & Health Council. The firm was awarded one of only five Gold Pollies given out nationally for public affairs campaigns.

The honored Healthy Pools campaign brought together partner organizations such as the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention and National Swimming Pool Foundation to create the swimming pool story of the summer. In only one media cycle, the campaign succeeded in debunking a very popular and damaging myth about chlorine by explaining that chlorine is not the reason people’s eyes turn red in swimming pools; in fact, urine in the pool is the cause.

The story was covered by The Today Show (“What’s Trending” segment), FOX & Friends, The Weather Channel, Yahoo! News, ABC News, Washington Post, AOL, CNN.com, Huffington Post, Drudge Report, CBS News, Mashable, Cosmopolitan, Snopes.com, Men’s Health, and hundreds of other national and local news outlets.

“This campaign generated tremendous outcomes for one of our most important clients, said Michelle Ubben, partner and COO of Sachs Media Group. “We’re immensely honored to receive this award and so proud of our team for the outstanding work they put into this campaign.”

Sachs Media Group developed both the Healthy Pools campaign and the Moms Against Cooties campaign for the American Chemistry Council. With the honor of this Gold Pollie, the firm has now received seven awards for this client.

About the Pollie Awards

The Pollie Awards (“Pollies”) are bipartisan honors awarded annually by the AAPC to members of the political advertising and communications industry who have demonstrated superior work on behalf of their candidates and causes. A blind jury of their peers selects AAPC award winners. Esquire magazine has dubbed the Pollies as “…the Oscars of political advertising.” For details, visit www.theaapc.org.
