Nationally Recognized Public Affairs Communicator Rose Grew the Firm’s National Presence, Rising to President in 14 Years
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Jan. 26, 2026 — Sachs Media, a nationally recognized public relations and public affairs firm celebrating its 30th anniversary, today announced that partner Drew Piers has been named President, capping a year of record growth for the firm. In his new role, Piers will lead agency performance, client service, and people and culture, while continuing to expand the firm’s national public affairs and issue advocacy practice.
Piers has been recognized as one of PRNEWS’ 2024 People of the Year, named a Top Influencer in Florida Politics by INFLUENCE Magazine, and honored with numerous statewide and national awards for campaign excellence.
“Drew is a motivating leader and a battle-tested strategist who is trusted by clients and deeply respected by our team,” said Michelle Ubben, CEO of Sachs Media. “His ability to lead through complexity, deliver results under pressure, and build high-performing teams makes him an ideal leader for this moment in our firm’s evolution.”
As president, Piers will work closely with the firm’s executive leadership team, including CEO Michelle Ubben and fellow partner Ryan Cohn, who was recently named Chief Strategy Officer overseeing long-term strategy, growth, and innovation. Founder Ron Sachs will continue to provide advice and counsel as Chairman Emeritus. In 2022, ownership of the company transferred from Sachs and Ubben to five partners – Piers, Cohn, Herbie Thiele, Lisa Garcia, and Karen Cyphers.
Over the past 14 years, Piers has played a central role in expanding the firm’s footprint beyond Florida, leading public affairs and issue advocacy campaigns in more than 30 states. In addition to his new role, Piers will remain actively involved in client strategy and continue to serve as senior counsel for several long-standing client relationships.
“We’re all excited and proud for Drew to lead the firm as our new President,” said Ron Sachs, Founder/Chairman Emeritus. “He has all the ‘right stuff’ to inspire our work family teams, give confidence to our clients, and demonstrate visionary and caring leadership in all that he does. He and the rest of our leadership team and staff are prepped for Sachs Media’s next 30 years!”
Piers holds a bachelor’s degree in Public Relations and Political Science and a master’s degree in Applied American Politics and Policy from Florida State University, and has served as an adjunct professor, teaching political communications and message development in the Master of Applied American Politics and Policy program. From 2020 to 2021, he served as president of the Florida Public Relations Association’s Capital Chapter and, in 2023, received the Stanley Tait Professional Award for Service.
“As Sachs Media continues to grow nationally, our focus remains the same: smart strategy, disciplined execution, and work that makes a real difference,” Piers said. “That commitment to impact has shaped who we are and where we’re headed, and I’m honored to help lead our talented team into the firm’s next chapter.”
