Youth Race Boosted by Zephyrhills Donation

The Sixth Annual RAP River Run provides essential funding for the Runaway Alternatives Project, and for the fourth consecutive year race participants and spectators will be able to quench their thirst with spring water donated by Zephyrhills Brand 100% Natural Spring Water. The River Run will be held this Saturday at Sims Park in downtown New Port Richey, and to keep runners and spectators hydrated Zephyrhills Brand is providing more than 2,000 gallons of spring water.

“We are honored to be able to support such a worthy cause by providing natural spring water for all who come,” said Jeff Smatsky, factory manager at the Zephyrhills Brand bottling plant, located just 40 miles from Sims Park. “Pasco County is our home, and we’re pleased to be able to help promote an event that means so much to our community.”

Zephyrhills will also donate 2,000 cups to be filled with bottled spring water and handed out to runners/walkers and those there to cheer them on. Last year, more than 1,300 runners participated and this year even more are expected.

Since the inaugural race six years ago, the RAP River Run has raised more than $400,000 for the Runaway Alternatives Project (RAP) House in New Port Richey. The RAP House is open to youth who are runaway or homeless and are in need of a short- term out-of-home respite placement for any reason.
