Too Cool for School: How We Helped These 6 Florida Schools Stand Out from the Crowd

It’s that time of year again! As students flock to college campuses across the country, we’re reflecting on some of our favorite campaigns that helped Florida colleges and universities break through and gain the attention of prospective students, fans, and even lawmakers.

How will your school’s brand stand out from the crowd this year?

Florida State University Women’s Basketball

Working with renowned Coach Sue Semrau, we conceived and art-directed award-winning photos of the Florida State University women’s basketball team. The images were used to create recruitment and fan materials and to populate a highly interactive website that allowed potential recruits to get to know their possible teammates. This national ADDY® Award-winning campaign helped FSU achieve multiple successful recruitment seasons and significantly energize its local fan base.

Florida State University Office of Admissions

To distinguish Florida State University and create a memorable experience for young recruits, we collaborated with the FSU Admissions Office to brand and design freshman recruitment materials targeted at high school juniors and seniors. The university’s non-athletics logo includes a flaming torch, so we built our campaign around the branded theme “Find Your Fire.” Under this ADDY® Award-winning brand, we invited young prospective Seminoles to discover their potential, unlock their talents, and ignite their passion. The striking commemorative poster is unlike anything ever seen in high school guidance offices throughout the country and immediately commanded the attention of prospective students.

The Florida College System

To help the Florida College System message its value to potential students and parents, we coordinated and designed a set of eye-catching, compelling infographics, as well as an informational presentation, which was delivered by Sachs Media Group President Michelle Ubben at one of the Florida College System’s educational events. We also helped produce a news conference in the Florida Capitol’s fourth-floor rotunda mid-way between the Senate and House chambers, boosting the Florida College System’s profile among legislators.

Nova Southeastern University

We have enjoyed a long-term relationship with Nova Southeastern University, assisting with crisis work and helping to raise the statewide visibility of the university through public relations and special projects, such as the Leadership Florida election debates. We helped the university overcome unfair, negative publicity spawned by a union battle and worked to open up a positive messaging track to protect the proud Nova Southeastern University brand.

University of Miami Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center

During a legislative session, the University of Miami Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center called on lawmakers to support its efforts to be designated as the second National Cancer Center in Florida by securing $8 million to  $10 million in state funding. In collaboration with members of the Sylvester team, we launched a branded campaign, “We Tackle Cancer,” to play off the passion for Hurricane football. We conceptualized and created a website, legislative handouts, advocacy kits, and FAQ materials to promote access to care for Florida’s most vulnerable populations, including senior citizens and minorities in their home region.

Universal Technical Institute

We managed the publicity for Universal Technical Institute, Marine Mechanics Institute, and Motorcycle Mechanics Institute of Orlando. We developed engaging social media content and helped with media relations, government and influencer relations, and event management. We also had the unique opportunity to handle publicity for round two of Formula Drift’s motorsport championship final, which took place in Orlando and featured Universal Technical Institute graduates.
