On this week’s “Florida NewsMakers” program, Colonel Mike Prendergast, Executive Director of Florida Department of Veterans’ Affairs, sits down with Sachs Media Group’s Michelle Ubben to discuss the opportunities and challenges of serving the nation’s third-largest veteran population.

“Florida is the most veteran-friendly state in the nation, and we’ve got a lot of great benefits for our veterans,” said Prendergast. “Our role is to help get that veteran through the door, get access to those benefits.”

Prendergast praised the Legislature for supporting a plan to add a seventh state veterans’ nursing home. He also praised veterans as an eager, ready-to-work workforce who can benefit the entire state.

“In Florida, our veterans are going to be instrumental in bringing us around and helping our economic recovery,” he noted.
