Account Executive (Public Relations)

Previous experience in government, health care, environment, crisis management, thought leadership, and media relations is a plus.


Required: Four-year degree in public relations or a related area of study

  • Passion for high-stakes challenges related to a wide range of issues at the local, state, and federal levels
  • Demonstrated ability to execute communications plans and work with multiple issues or clients at one time
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of social media and content creation
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to undertake multiple projects
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Responsibilities in the following:

Agency Support

  • Assists with client website maintenance, as needed
  • Assists in drafting proposals and RFP responses for the firm as needed
  • Directs and coordinates intern projects
  • Schedules meetings both internally and externally
  • Maintains up-to-date documentation of hours worked by client and project in the software system provided for this purpose

Communications Services

  • Remains current on trends in public relations, state government, and communications
  • Assists with the planning, scripting, and executing special events and media buys on behalf of clients
  • Performs public relations services, media monitoring, copywriting, and scripting for assigned clients. Attends client meetings as needed.
  • Assists in the development of strategic communications and advertising plans for assigned clients
  • Research client issues and writes accurate and effective media materials
  • Pitches reporters and bloggers on relevant topics
  • Writes persuasively on a range of client issues in the healthcare, nonprofit, environment, finance, associations, and other industries
  • Conducts primary and secondary research

Account/Project Management

  • Ensures a high standard of excellence for all work produced
  • Creates compelling and visually appealing PowerPoint presentations and other client presentations
  • Works with vendors for estimates based on clients’ needs and helps plan media and other events, as necessary
  • Works with a high degree of autonomy and implements communication strategies that meet the client’s needs and achieve their goals
  • Manages relationships with co-workers with a high degree of professionalism
